Shipping containers are expertly engineered to transport cargo safely across the globe. They are equipped with wraparound seals on their doors to ensure they remain watertight. However, despite their durable design, they are not buoyant and will sink if fully submerged in water.
What is the weight of a shipping container?
The tare weight of an empty container, which refers to its average unladen weight, varies based on its size. Generally, a 20-foot container weighs around 2.5 tonnes, a 30-foot container about 3 tonnes, and a 40-foot container approximately 4 tonnes.
What's a used container?
We accept only pre-owned shipping containers that are at least ten years old. Despite their extensive use and age, these containers maintain their weatherproof integrity and structural durability. Designed to withstand decades of service, they can typically last over 20 years with minimal upkeep following purchase.
Can shipping containers be stacked?
Open-top containers are not designed for stacking, but our standard and high-cube shipping containers are fully stackable. For secure stacking, we offer twist lock pins to firmly lock the containers together, ensuring stability and safety.
